Certain times of the year are pivotal moments causing us to sit back and reflect, like when we are going through a transition like a job change or a breakup/divorce. Others are more obvious like a birthday or New Year’s Eve. As we change from one year to the next, however, there is an even bigger change not just for ourself but in Humanity as well. Perhaps this is why so many resolutions take place at this time. There is a hope for something new. Out with the old – In with the new. Consider going from the year 2015 to the year 2016. It seems simple enough. We know what took place in 2015. Some good. Some bad. But a New Year is a present left under the Christmas tree unopened. A possibility of greatness.
Pythagoras, the Greek philosopher and mathematician, theorized that numbers had personality like masculine or feminine and mathematics can be found in nature. The quote: “Numbers rules the Universe” is often attributed to Pythagoras. If we look simply at the difference between 2015 and 2016 simply as a numerological event we might see the New Year in a new Light. In Nu-merology all numbers are reduced to a single digit except 11 and 22, although some will argue more, but let’s keep it simple for now. 2015 equals 8 (2+0+1+5 = 8) which is the sign of the infi-nite, the philanthropist, the one who is here to solve problems and help others. 2016 equals 9 (2+0+1+6 = 9) and is the sign of the Explorer, the thinker, the perpetual student always learning.
For many years now I’ve lead a meditation called Looking Back/Moving Ahead where we went into a deeper state of calm and delved into the questioning of life and our role in the evolution of ourself. In doing so it helps us set INTENTIONS for our desires of the New Year. A road map so to speak of how we would like to see things happen. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes the surprise is what makes it all worth while!
As you go through the following pages, used as a Review of the past and Road Map for your future, think about how over the last year you were “Big Picture” thinking. Looking more at the world and your role in it. As you consider next year give thought to what you want to learn. What you want to Explore. How you will take this knowledge and teach others.
May your New Year be all you set your intentions for. Be bold. Be positive. Have faith. And most importantly … “Enjoy this World!”
